Report of Funded and Unfunded Projects

Funding Information

Past

2011-2012

Development of Contrast Enhanced Quantitative CT as Clinical Tool for Arthritis

Translational Research Program, Children’s Hospital Boston; 96690-01 and 96994-01

Consultant (PI: Brian Snyder, MD PhD)

The major goal of this study was to determine whether contrast-enhanced CT of the hip using cationic contrast agents is a reliable and effective clinical tool for the assessment of cartilage damage.

Current Unfunded Projects

2008-present

Principal Investigator. The morphology of the sustentaculum tali in patients with talocalcaneal coalition.

Evaluate CT scans in patients with subtalar coalition to better define extent and precise location of the morphologic abnormality (work on this project is still underway and previous findings led to three original scientific publications).

2010-present

Co-Investigator.  (PI: Yi-Meng Yen, MD)/ Morphologic abnormalities in the hips in pediatric patients.

Reformat and evaluate CT data in children with and without known hip disorders to determine the prevalence of structural abnormalities of the femur or acetabulum in normal and symptomatic children.

2010-2014

Co-Investigator.  (PI: Mininder Kocher, MD)/ Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) in skeletally immature patients – radiographic study.

Evaluate radiographs and MRI scans in pediatric patients with surgically confirmed FAI to determine the proximity of the proximal femoral physis to the cam lesion.

2010-present

2013-present

2016-present

Co-Investigator (PI: Samantha Spencer, MD)/ Prospective Evaluation of Tarsal Coalitions

Evaluating CT scans in patients with tarsal coalition to determine if CT findings correlate with surgical outcomes.

Co-Investigator. (PI: Benton Heyworth, MD)/ Osteoid osteoma about the hip.

Co-Investigator. (PI: Benton Heyworth, MD)/ Presentation and management of knee focal periphyseal edema (FOPE) zones in adolescents.

2016-present

2016-present

2017-present

Principal Investigator.  SMS (Simultaneous Multi-Slice)-TSE (Turbo Spin Echo) MRI sequences compared to traditional TSE sequences in MRI evaluation of the knee in pediatric patients.

Co-Investigator (PI: Benton Heyworth, MD)/ Radiologic, biomechanical and functional impact of the physeal-sparing Iliotibial band ACL reconstruction in children:  results of MRI, 3-D motion analysis, and patient reported outcomes surveys between 1-20 years of follow-up.

Co-Investigator. (PI: Eduardo Novais,  MD)/ Abnormal MRI aspects of the epiphyseal tubercle and correlation with radiographic peritubercle radiolucency in SCFE.
